Six adults and one child were rescued over the weekend after their boat capsized in Tomales Bay in Northern California.
According to the Marin County Fire Department, rescuers arrived at around 3 p.m. Saturday to find all seven boaters clinging to an overturned boat. Three rescue watercraft, two helicopters, one motor lifeboat, one safe boat, two ambulances and two engines were deployed for the rescue.
A video shared by the fire department shows rescuers transporting the stranded boaters to Miller Boat Launch, where they were evaluated by waiting paramedics. All seven suffered from cold exposure, and four were released after warming measures. Three were transported to the hospital for treatment of minor injuries.
The Marin County Fire Department would like to remind all boaters and coastal visitors that the waters in our area can be extremely hazardous, the department said. Please use caution and plan accordingly when visiting our unique and beautiful coastline.
