Abortion rights activists disrupt San Francisco mall

Abortion-rights activists marched through the Westfield San Francisco Centre mall and staged a die-in on Market Street on Monday. Bay Area Rise Up 4 Abortion Rights activists can be seen on video marching through the mall with signs, including one person drumming, and chanting, rise up for abortion rights. Many of the demonstrators are seen wearing white pants painted red to look like blood, and green bandanas, the international color for abortion rights. The march began on Market Street and detoured through the mall before culminating in a die-in at the next intersection on Market. The die-in blocked traffic for a short time ahead of Game 2 of the NBA Finals between the Golden State Warriors and the Boston Celtics. A draft Supreme Court opinion that was leaked last month indicated the court intended to strike down Roe v. Wade, the 1973 decision that protected abortion rights at the federal level. Rise Up 4 Abortion Rights has since staged a series of protests nationally, including disrupting televangelist Joel Osteen’s Sunday service in Houston, and unfurling a banner at Dodger Stadium in Los Angeles.
