U.K. Prime Minister Boris Johnson on Thursday confirmed he will resign as leader of the Conservative Party and step down from his position once a replacement is chosen. A video shared by journalist Philip Ingram MBE on Twitter shows crowds gathered outside the official residence of the prime minister on Downing Street in London ahead of Johnsons formal statement Thursday. A sound system can be heard blaring Bye bye, Boris, to the tune of 1975s Bye Bye, Baby by the Scottish pop band Bay City Rollers. Johnsons resignation comes after a day of mass resignations within his government in response to the revelation that Johnson had appointed MP Chris Pincher to a government post despite being aware of sexual misconduct allegations against him.
