Suspect In custody After Memphis Officer Shot And Wounded During Traffic Stop

A suspect is in custody after allegedly shooting and wounding a police officer during a traffic stop early Friday in Memphis, Tenn., police said.
The Memphis Police Department said that at around 4:19 a.m. Friday an officer stopped a motorist for speeding on southbound Interstate 240 near South Parkway. The officer was attempting to issue a citation when shots were fired, and the officer was struck multiple times.
Another officer at the scene returned fire, but the suspect fled in a black Nissan. The injured officer was transported to Regional One Health, where he was listed in stable condition.
The suspect, identified as Geronimo Kee, was located in North Memphis and taken into custody, police said. The vehicle was located in another precinct.
Police have not yet announced specific charges, and the investigation is ongoing.mem
