Belle Isle Giant Slide – Michigan AG Dana Nessel Goes Down the Slide in Detroit, Michigan

Michigan Attorney General Dana Nessel, who is running for re-election, made a campaign stop at the Giant Slide at Belle Isle Park in Detroit.

A video shared by Nessel shows her and two others climbing the stairs to the top of the ride and sliding down together. The video is set to “Giant Slide” by Detroit rapper Gmac Cash, which pokes fun at safety concerns about the slide.

“The Peoples Attorney will always stand up for you! Except when I actually cant stand, on account of disabling injuries incurred by Belle Isles Giant Slide,” Nessel tweeted alongside the video.

The six-lane slide recently reopened after viral videos of riders catching air as they bounced down the slide prompted multiple closures. In a statement posted on Facebook, the park said that spraying water on the slide between rides to control speed “seems to be working well.”nnThe slide has been on Belle Isle, an island in the Detroit River, since 1967. It is currently staffed by the Michigan Department of Natural Resources in partnership with Healthy Kidz Inc. Each ride costs a dollar, and riders must be at least four feet tall.
