Part of the Ohio Statehouse in Columbus flooded on Tuesday after a burst pipe sent water pouring into the Senate chambers. A video shared by Sen. Jay Hottinger shows water pouring into the building, flooding the Senate chamber and a nearby senators lounge. Water streaming from the pipe is falling into a small, overflowing bucket that is long past its usefulness. “Oh my gosh, this is horrible,” Hottinger, a Republican representing the states 31st district, can be heard saying as the rising water soaks the carpet. “My last day at the Statehouse not going very well,” Hottinger tweeted alongside the video. He is retiring after nearly 30 years in the Ohio General Assembly. The burst pipe was part of the buildings fire suppression system, per reports. The incident comes after several days of deadly winter storms and frigid temperatures.
