Workers in Towson, Md., on Saturday voted to form the first-ever union at an Apple store in the U.S. A video shared by the Machinists Union shows workers emerging victorious after the election on Saturday night, with a cheering crowd there to celebrate. Workers at the store in Towson Town Center, a mall near Baltimore, voted to unionize 65-33. The Apple Coalition of Organized Retail Employees, or AppleCORE, joined the International Association of Machinists and Aerospace Workers. I applaud the courage displayed by CORE members at the Apple store in Towson for achieving this historic victory, IAM International President Robert Martinez Jr. said in a statement. They made a huge sacrifice for thousands of Apple employees across the nation who had all eyes on this election. I ask Apple CEO Tim Cook to respect the election results and fast-track a first contract for the dedicated IAM CORE Apple employees in Towson.
