Actor Ben Stiller traveled to Rzeszow, Poland, on Saturday in his role as Goodwill Ambassador for the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees. Stiller made the trip ahead of World Refugee Day on June 20, to help highlight the needs and experiences of those who have fled the war in Ukraine. I’ve just arrived in Poland with UNHCR to meet families whose lives have been torn apart by war and violence in Ukraine, Stiller said in a statement posted on Instagram. Millions have been forced to flee their homes, with over 90 percent being women and children. I’m here to learn, to share stories that illustrate the human impact of war and to amplify calls for solidarity. Photos show Stiller touring a UNHCR logistics hub for distributing relief supplies, visiting the border at Medyka, and visiting a UNHCR Protection Hub, which provides child protection and legal aid services, psycho-social support, and sex- and gender-based violence prevention and response services. He also visited Lypki, Irpin, in Ukraine, with Natalia Prokopchuk, to see the effects of Russia’s invasion firsthand. War and violence are devastating people all over the world, Stiller said in a video clip filmed in front of a destroyed building. Nobody chooses to flee their home. Seeking safety is a right, and it needs to be upheld for every person.
