The Supreme Court on Friday struck down Roe v. Wade, the landmark 1973 precedent that protected abortion rights at the federal level, sparking protests nationwide. On Sunday, abortion-rights activists gathered outside the U.S. Embassy in Dublin, Ireland, to protest the ruling. Sisters (brothers and siblings) in the US – we stand in solidarity with you, Twitter user Sonja wrote alongside a video that shows protesters chanting and holding signs outside the embassy. Protesters chanted, Two, four, six, eight, separate church and state, and, Pro-life, thats a lie, you dont care of women die. The 6-3 ruling in Dobbs v. Jackson Womens Health Organization upheld a Mississippi law banning abortions after 15 weeks of pregnancy, and leaves the legality of abortion up to states, many of which have additional restrictions. Previously, Roe v. Wade required that states permit abortion until fetal viability at around 24 weeks of pregnancy.
